ABOUT ME

My name is Lily Reed, I have been at Gaston Day School for ten years. Throughout my many years at Gaston Day, art has always been one of my favorite classes. In the fourth grade, I would come home everyday after school and draw countless sketches of dresses and different outfits. At the time, I wanted to be a fashion designer.

My art really started to transform during my Art I class, freshman year. We focused on technical skills and working with every medium and my creativity took shape into decent works of art. The next year we got our iPads in school, I noticed an art app was downloaded and I played around with it. Later on I went on to win a silver key for my digital work "Triangular Fox".

Ever since then art class has continued to be the place where I stood out. This summer I received the honor of winning the Congressional competition for my piece Donkey In Lights. Seeing my piece hanging up in the capital building was the most surreal experience that I will always remember. Art has already opened so many doors for me and I can't wait to see what lies in store for me in the future.
